SPECIALLY EQUIPPED MACHINERY
 In order to be cost-effective and get the best results, you need specially equipped machinery on golfcourse construction. This giant Hydrema 922 is made perfect for transporting over 15 tonnes of material across ground that is very soft without making more damage than from normal footprints of a man walking. It is a real challenge to transport this beast through the very narrow, extremely busy English roads. M25 too is really not a highway like they say, rather the worlds largest parking lot!


HYDROSEEDING STARTED AND WATER ARRIVES
Finally water arrived last week as the record dry weather in Surrey ended with showers and the automatic irrigation system installed got fired up and programmed. After a very intensive period of renovation construction work the third hole was the first to get hydroseeded with the FInn T-120 special golf course seeder. A slurry of wood fiber, polymer gels, fertilizers, growth stimulants and seed got sprayed onto the finished soil surface. The green marked color gives the impression of future grass growth and look of the areas, and it will be a great par 3 by the Wisley Clubhouse!


CONSTRUCTION UNDER WAY AT THE WISLEY GOLF CLUB, SURREY, ENGLAND
Major earthworks and shaping going on at one of the worlds premiere clubs, the Wisley Golf Club in London.

Renowned architect Bruce Charlton from Robert Trent Jones II discussing landforms at site visit in April of 2010. Sternberg Golf Services team of dedicated shapers and builders are currently working 70+ hour weeks to create the new renovated Church course for the Wisley members. Working with the elite architects of today is a demanding but very stimulating task, and this course is really shaping up to present some unique features. Incredibly framed by 100+ year oaktrees in the English countryside this course will feature a man-made winding burn with waterfalls and Scottish pebbles which will challenge players in strategic places along several holes. The gorse and nearby RHS Wisley Gardens create the beautiful setting and CM Stephen Byrne is heading one of the most professional maintenance teams in the business. First holes scheduled to be seeded this summer, using the advanced mulch technology and hydro-seeding practice that is starting to become the industry standard for projects of this magnitude.              Contracts RTJ II and Sternberg Golf For Revamp of 
             Championship Course
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – FEBRUARY 12, 2010 – After a series of in-depth meetings at February’s Golf Industry Show in San Diego, The Wisley Golf Club in London, designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II, has signed a major reconstruction project with international golf course specialist Sternberg Golf Services of Sweden. The renovation, which will begin in April, will feature the installation of Sportcrete, a revolutionary engineered bunker-lining and drainage technology.

Established in 1991 and located just across the River Wey from the famous Wisley gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, The Wisley Club was Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s first golf course in the U.K. It is widely regarded as one of the top courses in Europe and is home home course to a host of Ryder Cup stars including Captain Colin Montgomerie and Paul Casey to name but two. The renovation will include a full technical upgrade, reshaping of all features, and extensive drainage and hazard additions. Sternberg Golf Services will also install improved grass varieties that require less irrigation and enable the fairways and greens to play firmer and faster.

The decision to utilize the Sportcrete bunker-lining technology for the full course renovation at The Wisley came after an inspection of the Garden Nine’s bunkers following an installation of the porous lining system earlier last year. Bruce Charlton, President/Chief Design Officer, RTJ II, LLC, remarked:

“I was stunned with the ability of the Sportcrete bunker-lining system to provide extremely rapid drainage of the bunkers during and after a prolonged rain event that placed more than two inches of rain throughout the morning tour of the course, especially since it had rained heavily the night before. The bunkers had not experienced any washouts and had no standing water. During this post-design inspection visit, it was agreed to create more visible sand sight lines from the tee shot on a number of bunkers by raising the sand/grass lines. With the Sportcrete lining system, this is a very simple and quick process. It is the only lining system, to my knowledge, that can be accomplished with such little disruption. This efficiency in making revisions to bunkers was paramount in my design decision-making process as we made refinements to the bunkers.”

Vasatorp GK opens new 18!

The bold new 18 holes of the Tournament Course at Vasatorp opened June 6th. The construction team of Sternberg Golf Services has worked with the club to create one of the most spectacular playing experiences in Scandinavia. It is a truly enjoyable golf course, well worthy of any world class tournament hosting and at the same time very playable for any level of golfer. Oslo GK - beautiful technology

The technology used by MS Golf AS(Sternberg GS Norwegian branch) at the Oslo GK rebuild of 18 holes is the most comprehensive ever to be used in Scandinavia. A total renovation including SubAir Systems Eagle permanent units at each green, Sportcrete bunker lining system and a specially designed surface drainage system with greensgrade sandcap layer on fairways. The seeding and grow-in is under way and in spite of record drought, some heavy rains and windy conditions the various bentgrass varieties are coming in strong. The near 24 hour daylight and the advanced hydroseeding mix with the new Flexterra product from Profile Products is ensuring an even germination and giving that extra protection and kick needed to produce results like these. The installation of Sportcrete in bunkers at Trump National in New Jersey under progress. Soon to open new 18 holes at the prestigious club in Bedminster outside NY city are getting Sportcrete installed among many other tasks in the final preparations. The Fazio-designed golfcourse has L93 fairways, Penn A4 greens and is going to be one of the most talked about openings this year.
